Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a very sticky situation, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or the side of a building, chewing gum eventually turns into a black smudge on concrete. But before then, visitors and clients walking into a business will walk on it and track it in all over the carpets, rugs and mats. Then it’s embedded deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else in your building.
We are proud to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Philadelphia PA. Find information about our service below:
The best methods of removing gum from concrete usually depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the chewing gum was left not long ago and it has not penetrated the surface, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping it off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a workable substance compared to a gooey and stringy glob. Once the gum is frozen, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper under the gum residue. Then we slide the scraper very slowly under the gum and the whole piece should then peel right off the concrete.
The above method is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove chewing gum that is already black, or is already smashed deep down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water pressure washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal, we do not use high pressure because that could damage the surface of the concrete!
Our crew never uses more pressure than needed to safely clean commercial concrete surfaces. These types of surfaces can be damaged a lot easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a few years old. Concrete can need up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional chewing gum removal service.
To remove chewing gum from concrete and other surfaces we use specially designed hot water power washing equipment and professional-grade soaps and detergents that enable us to clean the concrete without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we are able to safely remove gum and dirt while protecting the surface. Our process will also destroy bacteria and germs that can be found in gum.
